FETLDTNG CLUB'S ANNUAL

M EETING

The Keilding Lawn Tennis Club iield its annual meeting last night in the Oddfellows' Hall, Mr W. E. Carthew occupying the chair in the. absence of the president, Mr John Graham. There were also present: .Messrs K. H. Allen, L. S. Tomlinson, F. Fawcett, A. H : . Mngiiire, N. S. Tankersley (secretary), Mrs Green and Misses N. Klliot and H. Davidson.

Speaking to the niinunl report and balance sheet' (already published' in the Star), the chairman said the season had been a success, financially and otherwise, lint lor the necessary expenditure in the purchase of new nets and umpire's stands, the balance would have been a creditable one. The club membership had steadily increased, and by all indications the coming season promised to be a, good one. Mention was made, of the loss sustained in the departure from Feilding of Mr Waymonth, for some years the club's able secretary, and Mr and Mrs J. R. Perry, who wove, most ardent supporters. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted: Mr A. H. Atkinson, patron. Mr A. H. Maguire, president. Messrs \V. E. Carthew and John Graham, vicepresidents. Committee, Messrs KFaweett, K. H. Allen. F. S. Tomlinson, A. R. Miers and Misses Best, H. Davidson and N. Elliott. Mr N. S. Tankersley was re-elected seen*'-' tary.

Several resignations were accept od with regret, and eleven new members were elected.

The date of the opening of the courts was left to the committee. The secretary was instructed to make a donation of a certain number of used halls to each of the schools.

The present unsatisfactory locality of the courts was fully discussed. Many adverse conditions prevailed which made the courts unsuitable, and before long a large sum would have to be spent to put them in order.

Mr Carthew said that it was very necessary 'that the incoming committee should take the matter in hand and investigate with a view to a more suitable position. The question had heen considered previously, and he thought the present time opportune to carry out any decision the meeting may arrive at". It was agreed that' a- special coM' mittee, consisting of the President, | Vice-President and Mr Tomlinson, be leat up to submit a report on the question.
