UNITED BAND OF HOPE
Another successful meeting of vhc "United Band of Hope was held last night. The spelling competition was a success, resulting in Oswald Eade being first and Maurice Martin second, it i.s proposed to arrange for a competition lor Std. 5 next month.
Mr C. E. Taylor, chairman for the evening, reminded those present that these Band of Hope meetings were not only to entertain, but to instruct and educate, so that eventually their vote might be cast for God and His people, prohibition being an ally in the protection •.I humanity.
The following contributed u, an excellent programme: Temperance chorus (Baptist Sunday Scliool boys); recitations, Vera Whisker, Beta Cotter, Joyce Cherry, .TaCk Jeffs, Irene Dummer, Doris Eichler, and Will Print; a pianoforte duct by feme Bridge and Kalh. Gifford was well received. The Baptist Rand Tray Class finished oil' the evening with a temperance acrostic. Miss Campbell assited at the piano, and the National Anthem concluded the meeting.
