GROWING WORSE
LONDON STRIKE SITUATION. EMPLOYERS' OFFER REFUSED. THREATENED STOPPAGE OF TUBES. (By Electric Cable--Copyright). (Aust. and N.Z. cattle Association.) London, March 20. The situation regarding the tramway strike is becoming worse. The employers offered 5s extra per week t> the uniformed stall', and nothing to the inside grade. They also offered to submit the question of the balance to arbitration. The offer was made in the belief that Government's Traffic Bill will afford the employers some relief. Mr Bevin state-; that in view of the strict mandates given by the men the offer was rejected. The Labour leaders are considering bringing the tubes into the strike unless negotiations for a settlement are successful. it is undertood the Government has been privately informed that this is a probability. Mr Bromley states that the locomotive engineers will cease at midnight on Friday unless ordered otherwise, thus crippling the tubes.
