POLO TOURNEY.
YESTERDAY'S PLAY. THE HANDICAP FINAL. Under ideal weather conditions the final for the Bold, Handicap Cup was played yesterday afternoon between afternoon between teams representing Rangitikei A . and Wairarapa. Messrs M. Murphy and 0. Nelson umpired. The teams wore as follows: Bangitikei A (10 goals): N. Scott, P. McKelvie, It. L. Levin, W. Scott. Wairarapa (30" goals): G. Fenwiek., W. Howard Booth, H. Martin, and D. H. S. Riddiford. \ Bangitikei entered the field with the big handicap of 20 goals, but also with the determination to wipe off their handicap, and but for the strong defence of Riddiford and Booth would have done so early in the game. These two players, however, stuck to their task, and helped in no small degree by Martin, succeeded in staving off defeat until an extra spell had been played. The excitement Avas intense when the last chukka was entered and Ft was found Rangitikei had only four goals to get to win. The excitement gren .when Levin at once scored. Shortly after, \V. Scott got another goal, and just on calt of time McKelvie raced the ball through, and fell as he scored, but was in the saddle again at once, making the score 30 all. The rules of the game call for a continuation until one side has a lead. So they played on. R. McKelvie was the first to have a shot, but failed. ~.Levin, had the next opportunity, but his shot went:wile, and it was left to W. Scott to secure the
winning hit. Wairarapa played again a much superior team, and played right out to a man. Rangitikei finished full of ginger, and goals were scored by AY. Scott 7, N. Scott 4,.McKelvie ,5, and Levin i.
This match was followed by, a friendly between Hawke's Bay B and Feilding and resulted in a decided win for the latter :by 5 goals to 3 in a match of four spell. , Mcßeth played a very fine game for his side, scoring three out of" the five goals made. E. E.-Short and N. J. Short scored one each. For Hawke's Bay, Campbell played,in fine style, scoring two goals and B. Mackenzie one. At.the finish of the game Sir Jas. Wilson presented the Handicap Cup to the winning team, for whom W. Scott responded, while R, L. Eevin added a few words of thanks and appreciation to the players generally.
