NORTH POLE FLIGHT

(By Electric Cable.—Copyright). (Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association) Washington, Feb. 16.

As a result of popular and Congressional opposition to the Shenandoah's polar flight , President Coolidge has ordered the -Navy Depart-

ments to cease reparations until Congress has an opportunity to express its views, especially as the expedition requires the expenditure of 350J000 dollars, which Congress might otherwise refuse to appropriate. Naval officers have declared that unless Congress within ten days authorises the flight, it must bo abandoned for 1024, owing to seasonal obstacles in the Arctic regions.
