PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION.
AT THE ELECTION. By Electric Cable- -Copyright. Aust. and N.Z. Cab c Association. (Received Dec. 10, 11 a.m.) London, Dec. 9. The secretary of the Proportional Rrepresentation Society writes to the Press that if proportional representation had operated., in 548 contested seats. Conservatives would have 'won 207 instead of 214, Labour 168. instead of 189, and Liberals IG4 instead of 139, Independents 9 instead of G. The Labourites are taking legal advice over the counting "of votes in Sedgefield, which the Conservatives won with a majority of six. The' complaint is based on the fact that a hundred properly marked voting papers had been rejected because they had not ben stamped by the polling booth officer.
