HIGHER FEES.
TO BE PAID TO JURIES. (Per Press Association). Wellington, July 4. The Juries Act Amendment BiTl yas briefly explained by the Hon. C. I. Parr, who introduced it into the House of Representatives last night. Mr Parr said that it provided xiaiply for higher fees to be paid by icigants, who applied for a jury. At :he present time, the cost to the frown of a jury is about £2O a day, vhereas the party who asked for the ur.y had to pav only £4. The prox>sal is to increase tho charge to £B. ?rovision is also made for tho refund J amounts paid in respect of jurors rhere cases are withdrawn, provided he notice is given three days before he day fixed for the hearing.
