Only starters. One bv one and a quarter lengths. Time, 1.8. Waikato Handicap, 11 miles.—lnfante 1, Gold Kip 2. Bedford 3. Scratched: Pino Arch. Won by one and a quarter lengths. Time, 2.18. Steeplechase, 3 miles. —Thingathu 1, Esplanade 2. Gay Boy 3. Scratched.; Raymond. Won bv seven lengths. Time, 6.36. Kirikiriroa Handicap, 6 furlongs. —Master O'Rorko 1, Loch Abbey 2, Machree 3. Scratched: Matinee, Matinee, Crowhuvst, Whitianga, Dead Sweet. Won by a head. Time, 1.13 1-5.
Tauwhare Handicap, 1 mile. —Glen. cairn' 1, Peter Maxwell 2, Welcome Arch 3. Scratched: Sussex and Irish Jig. Won by throe lengths. Time, 1.51. The toto handled £25,315, a drop of £12.934 compared with the second da- last year. The total drop for the two days' was £26,569 10s. NOTES ANDCOMMENTS. '
The Horowhenua races will take place to-morrow at Levin. Handicaps for the first day of the Foilding Jockey Club's November meeting, are duo ■ about Thursday, tho 16th inst, The Canterbury starter, Mr P. D. McNab fined no less than six of the jockevs riding in tho Metropolitan Handicap at Riccarton on Monday last.
Tho handicaps for the Auckland Cup and Railway Handicap are due to make their appearance on December 1. • Enthusiasm (Panmure Martui), winner of the New Zealand Derby, ranks as a; second foal.
It is reported that tho price at which tho Absurd filly Ad Astra recently changed hands was 650gns. Word from England states that the New Zealnnd lightweight.. Voight, is feeling very lonely in the Old Country, and would liko to get back to the Dominion again. Amythas may be given a run in the Horowhemin Cup, which meeting will bo held at Levin to-morrow. White Comet (Day Comet—Lady Frisco), owned .by Mr G. Seifert, is being trained by F. Loomb, of 1c Awamutu. The Wanganui-brcd Irish Rufus, by King Rufus—Moira Ma* Cree, thoreforo half-brother to Loyal Irish, is performing well in Melbourne, his latest success being in the Cup Steeplechase at Flemington recently. It is stated that Hector Gray who is at present riding in the Old Country for Sir Cunliffe-Owen, will take up his residence again in tho Dominion. In the lust 21 years the C.J.C Derby has only twice been run at a slower pace than it was this year, •when the distanco took 2.42 1-5. In 1912 Bon Reve took 2.42 2-5, and in 1019 Rossini 2.46 3-5. The record for the race is jointly held by Desert Gold, The Toff, and Winning Hit, each of which ran 2.34 1-C.
