GLIDING STOP CONTEST.

AN ATTRACTIVE NOVELTY. The Feilding Motor Club's gliding stop contest was held on Saturday afternoon under ideal weather conditions, and was greatly enjoyed by the competitors and a large number of interested spectators. Twelve contestants lined up for this event, the results being as follows : Cars and Side-cars.—Mies F. M. Benson. Solo Motor-cycles.—Mr P. Simpson. The unplaced competitors then held a consolation run over the course, Mr A. R. Cottrell proving an easy winner. Mr J. R. Perry acted as starter, and Messrs H. B. Burrell and J. A. King as judges. The club will be holding another competition next month, details of which will be announced later. From the support' given by motorists in the events held to date there is no doubt the club is justifying its existence in creating a healthy interest in motoring from a competitive point of view, and we wish them every success in their undertaking.
