The Feilding Star Oroua and Kiwitea Counties' Gazette THURSDAY, MAY 18, 1922. THE FEILDING SHOW.

Membeus of the Feilding Industrial, Agricultural, and Pastoral Association are just in receipt of copies of tho 20th annual report of this flourishing and important institution, that has played no small part in fostering the business of the men on the land. It is a report of routine work well done, and is Very interesting as showing one of the great activities of this town and district. It is important, in that it calls upon breeders to avoid marking time, but to strive to move forward. The man or institution that marks time gots nowhere. And the great need in every department of our life to-day is progressive ideas and initiative. We commend the Committee for its enterprise in the introduction of the exciting and therefore popular motor cycling events in its last programme. Probably members will “think up” some more attractions for the crowd that does not want to spend all of its day sitting on the rails or leaning over the pens. There will be plenty of patrons to do that very attractive stunt —attractive, that is, to the experts and the men and.women directly and critically interested in tho contents of the pens. Wo especially commend to our producers the. appeal of the report to devote their attention to the revival of the export classes for sheep and lambs—revived at the last Show for the first time since the war. They were well tilled with high-class stock, and tho result of the judging in London should be to hand shortly. Your Committeo emphasises the importance of these classes to farmers. Not only have they the opportunity of winning valuable cash prizes at the Show—and in London, where they are consigned it—but Show stock always fetches a much higher price than that ruling at tho time of sale. And wo would add a word of appreciation of the services of the selfsacrificing and enthusiastic members of tho executive and committee who continue to build up this valuable institution for the farming interests of Feilding.
