Hilda Singh, "the woman with the fatal eyos," was sentenced to nine years' penal servitude for instigating tho murder, of her husband, Schidev Singh, an Indian student, who is alleged to have boon wanted by the British Government for promoting unrest in India. She weirUinto lrysterics when she heard the sentence. Max Arnold, her wealthy lover, whoso confessions of his "sexual slavery" to her .were a leading feature of the dramatic trial, received a sentence of four years' imprisonment for manslaughter. Paul Korwien, Arnold's schoolboy friend, was acquitted. Arnold admitted strangling Singh in his sleep, but alleged that he only meant to chloroform him and steal important documents.
