DISCUSSED BY ANGLICAN SYNOD. (Per Press Association.) Auckland, May 1. The Anglican Synod resumed its debate on Bishop Sedgwick's motion regarding church unity. Bishop Averill moved as an amendment, by way o addition, that copies of the Lambeth appeal and resolutions on Union bo sent to the leaders of Christian churches in New Zealand; the churches be invitod to co-operate with the Anglican Church in prayers, ,m study, and conference, in view of the ultimate realisation of the Lambeth union. , A further amendment was , moved by Canon Wilford (Christchurch) substituting for the second half of the motion a clause urging thq clergy and laity o fthe province to use every opportunity to get resolutions passed at that conference, and this great question studied and discussed with members of other Christian bodies. Archdeacon Talyor the later amendment, warning-the taynoa against any action that would pledge it .to the promiscuous iterchange or preachers. Finally, at Canon Wilord's request, this . amendment was withdrawn, on the ground that it was a subject of misunderstanding. The motion, with Bishop AvenH'.s amendment was then carried unanimously.
