Aitken was the only New Zealander in action at the Tennis Carnival who received a forfeit in the singles match. He lost to Spratt 6/8, 4/6, 6/2 and 5/7. Aitken failed to dovetail with his partner's play, but was responsible.for .the lion's share of the work. He has not yet struck form, but his driving and smashing are excellent. The victors' play was characterised by steadiness. Anderson is a brother of tho Davis Cup representative. Tho ladies will take part in the championship on Tuesday.
