He added that in spite of the increases in agricultural products, tho farmers would pay 5 dollars in increased prices for every dollar they gain through the tariff. He denounced it as the worst bill that ever crossed the threshold of the Senate, and concluded by saying that while tho treasury may gain 350,000,000 dollars in duties these same duties will tax tho people by billions.
