PETROL AFIRE.

BIG BLAZE IN LONDON. (By Electric Cable—Copyright.) (Aust.-N.Z. Came Association.) London, April 27. Forty-one brigades fought a fire at Messrs Capel, Leonard’s petrol distillery at Hackneywick. Lorries were requisitioned to throw tons of sand on the blazing oil. Flames shot hundreds of feet in the air as the oil tanks became involved. Neighbouring houses and' factories were evacuated, the inhabitants fearing explosions. The fire was eventually controlled, only the still house being gutted. Fifty tanks within the works, each of 5000 gallons capacity, escaped.
