John Curran was found guilty of murdering Thomas Hogan, Mayor of Moree, and was sentenced to death. Tho defence ontered a plea of insanity. Accused, giving evidence, blamed Hogan for the loss of tho Stadium which he built at Moree, but for which he failed to obtain a license to hold boxing contests, and went shearing. While he was away, Hogan, as Mayor, obtained permission of tho Chief Secretary, broke the jocks of the Stadium, and held a boxing contest for patriotic purposes. Ho demanded to see Hogan’s authority for entering, and during an altercation the tragedy occurred.
