PERSONAL.
A Berlin cablegram states that M. Erassin is likely to become the first Soviet Minister to Germany. Mr B. P. Lethbridge lias been unanimously re-elected chairman oi the AVangainii Hospital Board. Mr George George, who has been director of the Seddon Memorial Technical College, Auckland, for 20 years, has resigned on account of throat trouble. The Wanganui Board of Education has received the resignation of Mr T. F. Fairbrother, headmaster of Terrace End. Two attendance records have been obtained by Masters F. Paddison and Williams, of the Lyall Bay school. The former lias had an unbroken seven years of attendance, and the latter six years without absence. The death has occurred at Wellington of Mr J. J. Kerslake, brother of Mr T. T. Kerslake, of Palmerston, 74 years of ago, and had been in the Dominion for 45 years. Quite recently he had retired after 40 years’ service with the Wellington City Council, with which body he held the position of overseer. A message from Sydney states that Mr Vcrbrugglien has cabled asking for an extension to leave for the purpose of conducting a short season in America. He conducted the Detroit Orchestra with great success. Mrs Z. S. Gill, of Palmerston, lias been seriously ill. She is making a good recovery.

C. Penncfather; Tupapakurua, 15. Iv. Dobbs, sole teacher; It. C. D. Lightbourne, organising teacher; O. V. Fraser, member of office staff; C. Bright, foreman painter; J. L. Robertson, foreman of works. A cable message from Paris says ex-President Desclianel is seriously ill. The Civic Club last night passed a motion of sympathy with Sir Keith Smith on the tragic death of his brother, Sir Ross.
