BIG DECREASE IN IMPORTS

The value of the imports into Britain during February, compared with the corresponding period of last year, decreased by £27,633,579, and the exports by £9,886,021. Re-exports increased by £2,169,857. The principal decreases were: In imports, meat £6,380,163 grain and Hour £3,282,860, other non-dutiable food and drink £8.253,836, and steel £2,269,995.
In exports, cotton yarns and manufactures £6,690,333, iron and steel £2,557,206, woollen and worsted yarns £1,867,603. The principal increases arc: In imports, dutiable food and drink £2,537.131. In exports: Vehicles, including locomotives, ships, and aircraft £5,576,717. The lead imports last month totalled 15,981 tons, of which 6678 came from Australia. Tho exports amounted to 5325 tons.
