Present indications are for liigli and squally easterlies, northwards ot New Plymouth and Napier, and. moderate .but increasing winds between north-east and south-east elsewhere. A continuance of unsettled and cloudy weather may be expected, with rain generally, and heavy rain, with rivers rising shortly, in the northern and cast coast portion of the North Island. An extensive depression has been in evidence northwards of New Zealand during the past three days, and the barometer is likely to fall further, particularly in the norths TO-DAY’S FORECAST. The indications are for easterly winds, moderate to strong, freshen ing and backing by east to north. Expect warm and humid conditions. The weather appears iikeU - to be cloudy and unsettled. Rain probable. Barometer falling.
