September iThere were onlv nine runners in the St. Leger. Chil'ds rode the winner, which, like Caligula, the 1920 winner, is bv Tetrarch. The small field was due'to the belief that the race was a certainty for Bullock's mount. Lraig an Eran. , Franklin and Westward Ho entered the straight abreast. Polemarrh challenged tlwm when a furlong from home, and was the best stayer, winning bv a length and a-half, with three lengths between second and third horses. Craig an Eran was a close fourth.
