Despite protests from the landlady the I "detectives" forced the door of an attio and . j were met by a wild-looking , man, with 1 flowing unkept hair, and a beard reaching , Ito his waist Ho was supposed to have i gone to the United States 15 years ago to ' escape a police court charge, but the land- : lady explained that he had been hidden in 1 tho attic since then. /
