SHEEPSKIN SALE AT CHRISTCHURCH.
BIG DROP IN PRICES
Christcliurcli, Nov. 18
Tho first auction sale of sheepskins since February, 1917, when the Government commandeered sheepskins, was held to-da, the catalogue totalling 20,034 skins. In consequence of tho heavy decline in wool values at Monday's sale, also of the fact that there has been a big drop in the Australian value of sheepskins, there was fully expected to be a substantial drop from the commandeer values, but even taking these facts into consideration, the prices obtained to-day were generally speaking below the expectations of'sellers. However, more than three-fourths of the skins offered wero sold. The following comparative range of prices for abattoir and other salted skins, estimated at per lb, gives an indication of the, extent of the decline, in prices to-day :— Super merino, commandeer valuation, auction prices, November, 1920; faulty merino, lOgd, 7d ; sound halfbred, lid, 7jd; faulty hahbred, lid, 6d; sound three-quarterbred, 133 d, sid; faulty three-quarterbred, 103 d, 4d; sound crossbred, Hid, 4|d ; faulty crossbred, lOd, 3|d; pelts, 2d; faulty pelts, sd, Id.
