In Chicago last month Mr William Brass Lloyd, a millionaire Socialist, an ofhcial of th» Communist Labour party, which he has largely financed, Avas sentenced to favo years' imprisonment and £600 fino having boon convicted with 19 other members ot tho party of conspiracy to overthrow tho Govonunent. Tho others were condemned to from one to five years' imprisonment, and to pay £200. lino each. Lloyd, a Harvard graduate, inherited hia wealth from his father, who was a wellknoAvri Boston philanthropist. Some ot the other prisoners aro professional men, and reputed to be well-to-do.
