TARANAKI'S WANTS.

RAILWAYS AND QUARRIES

(Per Press Association). Stratford, October 28. At a special meeting of the Taranaki Progress League this morning, a resolution was passed expressing grave concern and emphatically protesting against the proposed discontinuance of work on the west end of the Strat-ford-Ohakune line. The League also asked an assurance from the Prime Minister and the Minister for Public Works that the retrograde step of discontinuing work at Tahora will not be taken. A further resolution calls on the Government to vote a sum adequate to complete the whole of the work at Mount Egmont quarries.
