THE DAVIS CUP. LYCETT'S POSITION DISCUSSED. (By Electric Teiegraph.—Copyright.) (Aust.-N.Z. Cable Association.) London, June 14 Kingscote, in a letter to the Lawn Tennis Association, admits that Lycett has undeniable birth qualifications to play for the British Isles, but ■it is not the spirit of the law that he should be included in the Davis Cup team. He is a magnificent doubles player, and would undoubtedly strengthen Britain, but it would be better to lose the cup without Lycettfs assistance than to win with it. "While his qualifications are not unanimously accepted, particularly by Australia, I suggest that the Australasian Lawn Tennis Association be approached by letter, not cable, with a view to determining in a friendly spirit which country Lycett should play for. If Australasia agrees to the British Isles' prior claims, then Lycett's claim for inclusion should be considered in 1921, but not 1920.
