AN APPRECIATION.
Speaking at the formal opening oi the new Foxton State School yesterday, *tho Chairman of the Board eaid lie was glad of the opportunity of speaking if it were only to express the j high obligation the Board was under to those responsible for the wojk. In the first place, Mr Alt'. Fraser, as acting chairman of the Board, had taken a great deal of trouble to get the grants and had paid several special visits to Wellington to,that end, leaving nothing undone to secure prompt attention. The architect, Mr Hodge, had excelled himself in his endeavours to reproduce the latest ideas in school architecture at a reasonable cost and lie had succeeded admirably. Mr Aider ton had carried out mnn.y contracts for the Board l'atihfully and well, but in none liaa lie so splendidly overcome great difficulties and produced bettor results. The Board's painting and building stuff had seconded the efforts wonderfully well, and an inspection of the work would pr"Dve that. To this should be added ! the fact that the Chairman of last year's Committee (Mr Kellow, now in Feilding) accorded material assistance in the erection of the building, especially in obtaining; transit for materal during last year's train stoppage, when other building operations were at a standstill. The architect, contractor, and staff especially desire that their thanks should be conveyed to Mr Kellow for the assistance lie rendered them. A massive school bell has been presented to the school by Messrs A. T. Bent, of AVellington.
