Mr L'K'h.'T. McLean, of Feilding, prior to sailing for America, gave a donation of £500 to Pa.lmerston's V.M.C.A. fund. Mr Warren J. Harding, a journalist, and a member of the Senate, has been chosen as the Republican candidate for the United States' Presidency. Mr Herbert Booth, the well-known niissioner, now in Auckland (brother •to General Booth) has received a cablegram from London announcing the death of his wife. Mr E. Kellett, M.P., who recently underwent an operation, and has been an inmate in a Dunedin private hospital for the past two weeks, returned to his home on Thursday. He has sufficiently recovered to attend to his Parliamentary duties. <
