SLOWCOACH WINS WINTER STEEPLECHASE. ll'er Press Association..) Auckland, June 9. The Auckland Racing Club's winter meeting concluded at Ellerslie to-day-in beautiful weather. There was a large attendance, and the totalisator handled £73,031 for the meeting, an increase of £14,523 compared with last year. Results:— .' Tamaki Steeplechase. — Oakleigh (Warner) 1, John Biiriny 2, Monopole 3. Also-started—Totara, Jack, Southland, Maira and Peria. Oakleigh led throughout and Avon by three lengths, two lengths between second and third. Time, 5.18. Orakei Hurdles.—Deviation (Warner) 1, Kereone 2, Mary Bruce 3. Also star.ted: Keystone, Otara, Lady Energy, General Stephen, Ma Copper, Ohoreka, Multiplane, Golden Petal, Middlemarch, St. Carl, Toby, Gladwin and Mentoro. Won by three lengths, ten lengths between second and third. Time, 3.31 3-5. York Welter.—Hyllus (Gray) 1, Arran 2, Gold.Kip 3. Also started— Parisian Diamond,' Mangamahoe, Rockfield Trespass, Blue Cross, Waiuta, Te Oro, Archie, Penpna and Demoiselle. Won by a head, a length between second and third. Time, 1.47. Winter Steeplechase. — Slowcoach (Feilding) 1, Omahu 2, First Call 3. Also started—Old Mungihdi, Battletide, Tenacious, Oakleigh and Peneton. Omahu was in front two fences from home, when Slowcoach challenged, and the latter had his opponetn beaten at the Inst fence, and ran home a winner by a length, seven ; lengths between second and third. ] Time, G. 25. | Campbell Hurdles.—Mill o' Gowrio (Rennie) 1, Thrace 2, Ore Ore 3.
