HOUSING PROBLEM.
Paris. Evidence of the acuteness of the housing problem in Paris is obtained in the_ official figures just issued of the nuinbei* of .vacant houses, the declaration of which is now obligatory. The number of houses registered during the three weeks for which t"Ee"law has been enforced is 359 and the mimber of commercial premises 95.' The problem of finding accommodation will be aggravated owing to 'the fact that approximately 120,000 tenants have received notice to quit by term day this monith. The delay allowed before landlords may.raise their war-time rents expires this month, and tenants who are unwilling to pay exorbitant increases of rent are faced with the alternative of eviction.
