Sneaking at a banquet in Manchester, the Shah of Persia said that the recent Anglo-Persian agreement., while strengthening the traditional friendship of the two nations, should iurnish a. wide Held for the develop-, men. of' thoir future commercial relations. - t Certain obstacles which had hitherto prevented the free exchange of .muniorce had disappeared, and the moment was favourable for Persia to regain her ancient position as a great part of eastern aud western trade. He said he was convinced that Persia would play her part as a, member of the League of Nations in the common cause.
