Tho death has taken place at Napier of Mrs Marianne Davies, wmow of the Rev! C. P. Davies, at the age of 99 years. Sir James E. Wilson was yesterday unanimously re-elected Chairman ot the Manawatu County Council. Sir James was elected Chairman on September 1898, and now, after a chairmanship of 21 years, he is still going strong. He was. a Councillor for some years before that. This must constitute a record. In proposing tbe reelection, Cr. Hunt said ft was most desirable that Sir James should be reelected in the interests of the ratepayers. His knowledge of local body law had enabled him to get passed through many Bills. He would he able to carry out mail" schemes which lie had been responsible for framing. Cr. Phillipps, in seconding, said Sir James was a most accomplished Chairman, and an asset to the County.
