Orders for enormous quantities of liquor "have been despatched in the last two or three days from all parts of the Ring Country to hotels and breweries outside the proclaimed area as the published -notices seemed to make it clear "that 4iquoi< was riot to be carried on the railways after to-day owing to the conl shortage. A notice outside the To Kuiti. railway station mentioned the classes of goods that will be carried and at the bottom there was a statement that beer, wine and spirits will not be carried, but this statement had been crossed out with a pencil.
