Mr Fred. Pirani has consented to a request from the Wanganui Branch of the Teachers' Institute to deliver a lecture in Wanganui on Friday night next on education at Home and in New Zealand.
On April 4, Mr Fred. Pirani will deliver two lectures in Napier, at the request of the Borough Council, one in the afternoon on education and the other at uight on a trip abroad.

In order to make an examination ol tin- propellor, Captain Trask dived overboard from -ono of the ship's boats while the vessel was in mid-ocean. His first attempt was unsuccessful, but on diving a second time he obtained a good view of the propeller, an<l ascertained tho cause of the troubl. It appears that nobreakage had occurred; but that a deep-sea sounding wire which had been picked up had wound round the shaft abaft the starboard propellor."
