FEILDING CELEBRATION.
AVuen tho news came through the Press Association yesterday that Germany had signed an Armistice, Feilding folks knocked off work to the last man and woman. The whole day Avas given over Avholehoartedly to jubilation. Who said it Avaan't true? Sir Tames Allen! "Then it must be true!" was tho immediate retort—and the crowd went on its way merrily. Some blamed the incompetent Censor for letting such great news through without, confirmation. But it is a sad commentary upon the incft'ici ency of arrangements by those in authority for the proclamation of peace * and it is also a serious reflection upon our own Government tint nobody believes its leader!* .yon when by accident they tippeai to be speaking the truth. That i. l me of the ill effects of a keep-it-dark political policy. Feilding to 'Liy is not regretting its prematureJubilation of yesterday. It was a wonderful dross rehearsal for Confirmation Day. Palmerston did not rehearse yesterday —it vva? about the" only place in the Dominion that did not celebrate. That was Palmerston's loss.
