THE AUSTRALIANS.

BULLECOURT FORCE RELIEVED London, Juy 8. During his stay in France, the Premier of New South Wales, Mr W. A. Holman. visited, in .company with General Sir W. R. Bird wood, the various Australian Brigades. It was an inspiring sight to. see nearly 4000 veterans, Australian soldiers, going through the inspection reyiew. These men, who took Lone Pine, were present at Pozieres and Bullecourt. and have gained tbe reputation of being invincible. They have not failed, in any task allotted to them. Mr Holman has visited many points of the deepest interest to those who have followed the doings of the Australians, notably Pozieres and Bapaume. He saw the ruins of the latter, which was systematically destroyed with explosives by tho Germans before they evacuated it. Ho was interested in the fact that it was a New South Wales battalion of a composite Australian brigade that was the first to enter Bapaumo and also the first unit of tho allied forces to retake any important town captured by the Germans. Later in the same day Mr Holman inspected this brigade, and was introduced to all the officers of the New South Wales battalion.
