ENEMY'S RENEWED ACTIVITY (Received July 24. 1 p.m.) * Paris, July 23.
Le Matin states that it cannot be denied thaj; there has been a great recrudescence of enemy activity against Russia, also a multiplicity of attacks on the west front, extending to the whole of the St. Mihiel region, as -yjrell as enterprises of lesser importance' on the heights of the Meuse and in Upper Alsace, where the enemy is striving to regain a number of observation ooints. Le Matin regards this renewed activity as the outcome of Hindenburg's desire-to impress the politicians in Germany that the political situation is good.
