SLACKERS IN AMERICA.

While the Government at Washington is attending to tho seditionists and the dissemination of seditious literature (says a New York paper), iv has not forgotten the slackers, especially those well-to-do young gentltmen who are trying by every means in their power to get out of the country and avoid ednseription. Several had been detected in trying to cross the line in Canada, while others have been arrested in an effort to get into Mexico or into Cuba. They have all been brought back and means have been taken to insure their conscription. Many of them have been carrying golf sticks as though they were going on a vacation. They are finding out, however, that the Government officials cannot be fooled by any such subterfuge and that they will have to do their duty.
