NEWS OF THE OTAKI.

Cliristchurch, June 27

The New Zealand Shipping Company has received tho following post-card from Mr R. McNis'h, lute chief officer of the Otaki, who is now a- prisoner at Karlsruhe: "I beg to •state that the Otaki was sunk on March 10th by a German cruiser. 1 regret, to state the following casualties: Captain Smith went down with his ship; chief steward Willis was drowned; Kilnor and Martin, apprentices; Kowston, a seaman; A. H. Little, third engineer; were killed; Glitz, a trimmer, had a log amputated; Jackson (seaman). Payne (apprentice). Lancaster. Randall and Groves (fireman) wore wounded (not. seriously) and several others were slightly* wounded. All hands lost every stitch they had except what they stood up in. Please excuse post card as if is all I am allowed to write."
