FRITZ FIGHTS IN FORCE

A communique says: The bombardment of our positions'south of the Filain region and at Braye-en-l.aonnois continued until morning. A series of violent attacks followed. The Germans-launched large iforces, composed of special troops, on a frojit of over two kilometres. The attack was of the most stubborn character, despite the heavy losses inJlicCed. Tho enemy efforts were broken for the greater part, and the waves of assault were driven back. We held our positions, except in the centre, where the enemy penetrated, after several attempt*, into a salient in our line. ALL HUN ATTACKS BEATEN.
A French communique says: Altera violent bombardment all night, the Germans renewed their attempts in the region of Vauxaillon, south and south-east of Filain. All attacks wero repulsed with serious losses to the enemy who failed to gain any advantage. The fighting was particularly lively between Rover and Foidmont farms. The Germans, who extended their attacking front cast of Epines de Chcvrighy in tho far north of Froidmont farm, redoubled their efforts to carry positions there. They were beaten, back j'esterday. CAUGHT IN THE SALIENT. Our fire broke the assaulting waves, which were unable to reach our lines or emerge from the salient into which the vhad penetrated yesterday. Other enemy attempts cast of Chevreux and east .of Cavaliers de Oourcy in the sector of Chambrettes also failed. AGGRESSIVE ARTILLERY. A communique says: An artillery duel continued all day at Chemin dcs Dames. There was no infantry action.
