BRITAIN AND THE WORKERS
Loudon, August 5. Mr Asquith, in his reply to the trade unions which waited on. him regarding work after the war, added that the Government would try to create special emergency machinery to deal 1 with replaced workers. It had temporarily insured 1,500,000 munition workers against unemployment.' The demobilisation would be slow, and therefore a glut of labour would be hardly likely. The Government also intended granting, for a period after the war, furlough on full pay. The Dennobilisation Committee -was considering all the questions the deputation had raised.
