FATAL COLLISION.

MRS McLEAN KILLED

[VER TKESS ASSOCIATION.]

Marton, August 18. A fatal collision occurred this afternoon at the Pukepapa road railway crossing at Marton, between a motor car and a good's train. Douglas McLean, a youth of 18 years, was driving his mother and sister homo, with the side curtains down and with the hood up. Ho approached the railway line without noticing a train engine, which struck the car, wrecking it completely and throwing the occupants out.

Mrs Donald McLean, a well respected resident, of the R.angitikei district and tho widow of the late Mr Donald McLean," was instantaneously killed.

The driver sustained a broken jaw and severe shock, and is .in a semiconscious slate.

Miss McLean escaped without injury.
