BULB SHOW.
All persons interested in the annual bulb and spring flower show in connection with St. John's Church are requested to meet at the Parish Hall on Monday next at 3 p.m. The date of the show has tentatively been fixed for September 15.
The monthly meeting.of the Kiwitea County Council will be held to morrow.
It is stated by the Wairaxapa Age that the Nireaha Cheese Company has so far this season paid out Is od per lb. for butter fat supplied. It is expected that there will be a further payment of 3d per lb by way of a bonus, bringing the price up to Is Bd.

The fact that 22 members of the Kuripuni Methodist Church and 60 odd members of the Masterton Methodist Church have enlisted, shows that the "wowsers," as they term us, can respond nobly to the call to arms when the cause is a just one.—Mr. C. The Federal Teasurer (Hon. W. Higgs) stated last week, in response to a question, that the Dr. A. AY. K. Scheidel, who had subscribed £10,----000 to the Commonwealth AVar Loan, was, he believed, identical with the Dr. Scheidel of the Portland Cement Company, who wa.s compelled to sell his shares in the company because of bis nationality.
In connection with the appeal which was made recently by Mr Alma Baker, of the Malay States, for funds tp purchase aeroplanes for the Imperial Government, it was announced recently that Mr Sidney Kidman, the well-known New South AVales pastoralist, had made a gift of an armoured battleplane, at a cost of £2700.
One or two of the leading Melbourne merchants have recently taken up a strong position in regard to persons and firms of enemy origin, whether naturalised or not, and are refusing further business connections (states the Sydney Morning Herald). Some of those whose orders are being refused have been customers "of long standing, and have resented as a personal matter the determination arrived at.
