CHORAL FESTIVAL FUNDS.
TO THE EDITOB. OF THE BTAB. Sir,—As the originator of the above effort and one of the workers for its success, I would be glad of a little space in your valuable paper to supplement Mrs. A. S. Innes Jones s statements. Last Friday, not having heard of the Ladies' Red Cross Sewing Guild showing any signs of pushing the concert being held for thenfund, I asked Mrs. Jones if the ladies were prepared to assume the responsibility of raising £10 by the sale ,ot sweets, flowers and golliwogs. I was informed that they would not agree to bo held to any arrangement ot the kind, but would make their share ot sweets. This was very vague. Then, with regard to selling tickets, I was calmly but firmly made to understand (to my amazement) that the ladies who were to bonefit by our committee's hard six weeks of worry and preparation refused to sell tickets tor anybody"or any fund." . When I inquired if I could interview the committee, I was told that the next meeting was at the end of the month. (Our festival is on 23rd.) I immediately told Mrs. Jones that we would have to get in touch with some committee who would work. This occurred last Friday. The tickets were issued on Monday night when the choir was informed, and the public should know, that on Monday afternoon the Ambulance Committee contracted to sell half the tickets, and guaranteed to raise at least £10 from thS'sale of sweets, etc. This is a business arrangement and much more satisfactory, I am sure the general public will agree, than the ladies? attitude of polite indifference.—l am, etc., H. T. DALEY.
