AMERICA'S VICTORIA CROSS.

THE MEDAL IS POSTED TO THE

WINNER,

America is remarkable for the fact that it has only one recognised distinction for bravery in war instead of munj like our own Victoria. Cross, Distinguished Conduct Medal, or D..5.0. When an American soldier shows great courage in face of the enemy, Cong revs (the Unitod States Parliament) authorises the issue of a special modal to him and any others' at the same time deserving of the award. Those medals, however, carry no privileges, save the honour of wearing them. Like our own V.C, it is made of gunmetal, and is slightly different for the Army and Navy. One curious thing about the American medal for bravery is that it is rarely pinned on its winner's breast publicly, as with our V.C. The American authorities post the medal to tho hero who has won it!
