CANCELLED OWING TO
WEATHER
MEN GO BY TRAIN TO TRENTHAM. Wellington, August 4. In consequence of the unfavourable weathea- oonthuiing, tho march of tho 16th Infantry Reinforcements over tho Rimxitakas this morning en route to Trentham vestcrday was definitely cancelled. Owing to the lGths still being in .camp at Featherston, tho 18th Infantry, who wero to havo entrained at Trentham for Featherston to-day, wero obliged to remain whore they were. They will now entrain for Featherston on Sunday morning, and on their arrival there the 16th Infantry will entrain for Trentham. Iho transfer -of the two infantry drafts between tho two camps will thus ho elfected w-hollv by rail and on tho slime day. The lCth Infantry unfortunately will miss their march across the Rimu.-takas, but that cannot bo helped. , Tho 17'tli Infantry encamped at Featherston wire to "have cominenceid their final l<"«tvo on Tuesday next. Owing to. the wet weather, continuing it was decided to expedite their leave a little by allowing a large number oi them to commence their leave to-day.
