BRINGING IN COMPULSION

A lengthy memo, comes from the Recruiting Board v signed by Premier' Massey, giving details of the preliminary steps for enforcing the provisions of the Compulsory Service Act. Tho memo, concludes: "A direct appeal is being made by the Recruiting Board to each local recruiting body to take step's in conjunction with its neighbours in each group recruiting district to bring such central executive or executives uito existence. In thus emphasising tlie need for a continuance of labours which have been arduous and exacting, the Board desires to express its grateful appreciation of the valuable assistance which has been so cheerfully given over tho whole Dominion. It' is proposed in the immediate future to proclaim the enrolment of the Reserve, and exactly what is meant by that will be fully explained in a further statement before the proclamation is gazetted.
