Mr Cecil Cowpcr, a descendant or the poet Cowper and editor of the Academy, lias died, aged 59.

Tho Governor and Lady Liverpool are expected to visit the Manawatu Show to-morrow.

Mr Berkley Tyerman, aged 62 years, died at Woodville yesterday morning, after a long illness. Deceased was a member of various local bodies and a prominent bowler.

Surgeon-Major W. Kington Fyfl'c is returning £o Wellington by the Rotorua next month. Dr. Fyffe leftNew Zealand with tho 4th Reinforcements, and saw a good deal of active service at Gallipoli.

Lieut. L. H. Beauchamp, son of Mr and Mrs Harold Beauchamp, of Wellington, who lost his life on the Western front last year, was an old boy of the Waitaki High School. In his memory his parents .have arranged to invest £200 at oh or 6 per cent., to be devoted to prizes each year.

Captain E. C. Dovcy, who has been Camp Adjutant at Trentham for the past eleven months,, will leave for the front in command of the 15th Reinforcements. Captain Dovcy, who received Imperial Army training in tho Scots Greys, came to New Zealand some time ago .in connection with the Territorial, training scheme, and was stationed at Palmerston.
