REPORT BY GENERAL SMUTS

(Received June 21, 9 a.m.) London, June 20. General Smuts' despatch of April 30 gives details of his operations in German East Africa. Tbe German forces thero are estima ted at 16,000 of whom 2000 are white, with 60 guns, and 80 machine guns. They are organised m companies of from 100 to 200, with,lo per cent, whites, averaging "two machine guns per eonrpany. General Smuts eulogises Colonel Tighe's work preparatory to the general offensive.
