WANGANUI TO CONSIDER THE PROPOSAL.

At the meeting- of the Wanganui Borough Council last night a letter. Avas received from the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants congratulating; Cr. Spriggins on bringing up the question of municipal bakeries, and urging the Council to embark on the enterprise in order to alleviate the present position. Cr. Sprig-gins asked if the Council Avould seriously consider the matter. It, would be useless to table a motion if it was treated as a joke. The Borough Council had the right by legislation to establish municipal bakeries, uti was being done at Hastings. The Mayor: If you will table a motion. 1 will call a special meeting to discuss the matter. This course of action Avas decided upon, the date of the meeting to bo arranged.
