LLOYD GEORGE.
CONFIDENT OF THE POWER OF
THE ALLIES
London, January 29. Tho Milan Seeolo publishes an interview with the Hon. D. Lloyd George, who said: —
"1 am satisfied with what we are doing. We have 2500 factories, employing a million and a half men and a quarter of a million women, satisfying not oiily t'ho requirements of our own army, but also the Allies, ija.rticula.rly of Russia. French •journ«lis>fs have inspected our factories. Russians and Italians will inspect them sho.rtly. I am perfectly confident al" victory, because the Allies are at last taking counsel together. France, Russia, and Italy have reorganised their 'armies. \V had to create a new one, and we have three million men under •arms. By /the spring we will have a million more."
Asked a bunt the. possibility of the war ending in a military deadlock, Mr Lloyd George said: "That would ho unendurable. Victory must be real and final. The pressure on the enemy is becoming greater. They are spending their frontiers temporarily, but weakening tlieii- ' military power. Hence the" process of strangulation is slow, but sure. The Central Empires have lost the opportunity of victory, •and they know it. It will be a grim struggle, but the is on the downgrade. We may make mistakes, but we will nei-er give in."
